Save Daughters (A poem about saving the girl child)

A father holding his baby in his arms

                      She is so sweet
                      and so loving,
                     a daughter is God's
                     beautiful blessing.                                                                                      Father's pride
                     and mama's joy,
                     a girl is never less
                      than a boy.
                      Some heartless people
                      so cruel and dumb,
                      to kill little daughter
                               in mother's womb.
                      Oh dear daughters,
                      angels on earth,
                      they must be saved,
                     and be protected.
                     May you live long..
                     sweet little daughter,
                    may you stay blessed..
                     and happy forever.
                                                   -Aunt Mary

    1. It is their cruelty and sick mindset that they hide in the name of society, culture and religion. How can someone even think of something as gruesome as this! You are right, daughters indeed are princesses and should be treated the same way. :)

    1. Dear Shweta,

Wow! That's great! We really need to understand that every child brings happiness no matter it's a boy or a girl. In fact daughters are God's best gift to us. The condition in India is really bad. Many educated people are involved in the cruel act of female foeticide. It disgusts me. Awareness on the part of media is refreshing and helps in getting the message across to the masses.

Thanks a lot for visiting and sharing your views. Glad that you liked the poem! :)

      Love,
      Aunt Mary.

  5. So sad that in some cultures a baby girl is valued so much less than a baby boy. It is funny to think that my father claimed to have wanted daughters as opposed to sons and yet despite this much preferred my tom-boy sister to my rather more girly self.

    1. Dear Tracy,

It indeed is sad and depressing. Patriarchy still prevails. People in many parts of the world are too ignorant to understand that a daughter is the most beautiful gift. Daughters stand by their parents through thick and thins.

      Ah. That's sad to know.

Thanks for the read. Keep visiting! :)

  6. This makes me sad too...how, in a modern world (or any world for that matter) could a little girl be considered less than a little boy...?

    1. Such people claim to be modern while their thoughts and mindsets are still so backward. Adopting the modern culture isn't about changing the way you dress or just being tech- friendly. Your thoughts, your beliefs are the deciding factors.

Thanks a lot for the read. Keep visiting! :)

  7. Very sweet and nice poem. It's reality of our culture here more value of baby boy than a baby girl. But in these days this is going to be changed. Now Every girl is her father's princess.
